Oh. Sorry. IBD is Imflammatory Bowel Disease, VERY different from Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

It sounds a lot more serious too. What are the ramifications of IBD? Is there anything that causes it?

Sorry for the inundation of questions Curiosity has gotten the better of me

    Yeah, it can be.

Who knows what causse it. Once again, like everything else, a myriad of things come into play.
In a nutshell, coping with the inflamation is the key. A lot of dogs are just put on medications to try and deal with the inflamation and it's results, instead of trying to ascertain what IS causing it.

I've rarely seen any dog with IBD go the full hog of testing etc. It's too expense IMO.
Once again though, with this problem high fibre is very helpful as well.

    Update again...

I'm feeling much better because Inca is very obviously on the mend. Running around, killing her plush Tigger, and has had three meals already today - smaller than usual of course, but great as she has kept everything down and feaces just fine. Wippee!

I really don't like whacking them straight onto antibiotics unless it's obvious that their own body isn't going to cope, so am happy my decision has worked out in this instance.

Thanks for all well wishes. Inca gives you all a big hug with both paws up and a kiss and a lick.
