Thread: Pigs Ears

    Default Pigs Ears

My dogs love pigs ears.. are they ok to give everyday though?

I don't give raw chicken necks because they make Ollie vomit (any raw meat does) but I guess raw bones without the meat would be ok maybe?

I worry the pigs ears are going to make him fat..although they only get 1 each a day.
They need to chew on something to keep their teeth clean.

    Thoughts?

I use them as chew distractions when the pups are inside mainly.

Batty doesn't get more than one a week because any more than that and they seem to upset his tummy.

The Dentastix are apparently good for the teeth? I don't know what's in them though

They don't seem to like Dentastix here. They just have a thing for pigs ears it may be the saltiness.

    Hi Puggerup

My vet says pigs ears are pretty close to pure fat. I'm not sure he's right but they're bad to give when doggy has upset stomach. I don't give them to Frosty very often. They don't last very long when I do.

As a more regular teeth cleaning treat (since she makes splinters out of bones) I give her carob pods (from several street orchards around here), or carrot, or raw hide chews like these.

    they're called white beef chips

I used to give her big rawhide chews but she eats them too quickly now and they have unpleasant side effects on her gut.

dried Roo jerkey seems to be ok too. But I've stopped letting her have the roo bones or smoked bones. Too many bad side effects from dog who doesn't chew her chews enough.
