    Default Agility

Yep, another Agility thread... But I keep it short...

I am really happy right now as Ziggy and myself got promoted tonight from class 1 to class 2 We finally finished the foundation class (which is mainly about how to handle the dog and teamwork) and now we can start working on the equipment.

    Can't wait for next Friday

    Hi Hippo

Your class must be hugely different to ours. We can't start Agility until we've graduated grade 5 Obedience. And that took us the whole year, not just a week.

Does Hippo generally come back when called? That was Frosty and I, our worst problem.

    Thanks everyone!

Choppa - I see what I can do re the pics... It is just a bit hard trying to control Ziggy and taking pics at the same time.... That will require more training on my side.....

Hyacinth - The clubs are very different as the club we are members of is an agility club and not an obedience club. So fair enough that they have a different system. And it is not only a week that you spend in class 1 in our club - you stay in class 1 as long as it takes until you fulfill all the criteria to be promoted to the next class.
Regarding the recall - I am not so sure about the recall capabilities of Hippos (I wouldn't want to test them either) but Ziggy's are fairly good Our main problem is that she is easily distracted (by everything...) and I have to keep her busy to keep her attention. But as soon as I let her off lead to go through a tunnel or over jumps she concentrates on me and so far hasn't run away to say "Hi" to all the other dogs.... Her stay is really good. That helps a lot.
