Default Oh How We Have Grown!!!

OH was telling me a story last night that made me think...WOW! We have learn't SO much over the past few weeks!

He was telling me of a young guy who he works with and how he had gone a bought a "pure bred" German Shephard puppy without papers for $150. The "breeder" had told this young guy to feed the 9 week old pup every two days to keep it vicious!!!

OH said he was told how the pup was really skinny and so they had been feeding it once a day instead!

Well did he let this guy have it! He told him he was utterly stupid to think that he had got himself a purebred and that this BYB had sold him a cruelly treated puppy who would need a lot of love and attention! He also told him the pup needed to be fed TWICE a day and went on about what we feed Poppy. This guy had no idea! He thought dry food and tin food was good enough!

There are a lot of uninformed or just plain old ignorant people around, sadly dogs suffer because of it. At least your OH has brought this kid up to speed. So he should at least be started on the right track of animal management and animal husbandry pactices.

The breeder of the GSD is not unique sadly, there are hundreds of them of the same ilk.
If you find yourself going through hell; Don't stay. Just keep on going.

Mind you, in hindsight, if this young fellow's story is correct and the breeder did indeed say that, then I would be putting in a call to the local animal control officer to take a little peek-see at this breeder's place. Never know what he might find...

We don't know the name of the people OH's work colleague bought the dog from. It is horrible though and if we did I would be reporting them!!!

I coulnd not imagine how hungry and 9 week old pup would get only being fed every two days!

I hope this guy educates himself and QUICKLY so that the puppy has a great life!!!

Thats horrible, why someone would want their dog to be vicious is beyond me.

I have a friend who wanted his dog to be a good guard dog, he figured if he didn't let anyone interact with the dog this would happen.

It was pure ignerance that made him think this though, he didn't actually want to the dog attack or anything just bark when people came to the door.
After I expained that that was going to make the dog very anti-social and scared of anyone that came to the house he realised the mistake he was making and now takes the dog everywhere.
