Default How Much Exercise Does Doug Need? - What's to Much?

I have been told that Mastiff's shouldn't get to much exercise before they are one.

what is to much? a walk around the block?

is playing with another Dog in the yard for an hour or two enough?

I want to take him for little walks with my Little Foxy but I dont know what he should be doing at the moment?

he is 5 Months old now.[/FONT]

Uusally what is meant by 'not too much exercise' with the larger or giant breeds is to be careful not to rough-house when playing, not to run them silly. They don't need to be walked for hours on end, just a small walk each day would suffice.

This doesn't mean they can't run and play in the backyard with other pooches. Just not to the stage where they are going crazy and could injure themselves.
Their bodies are growing at such a massive rate, that too much exercise can easily cause damage now and in the future.

You should certainly take him for little walks with your Foxy. He needs to get out and about, just like any other dog.

My Old girl Pip (Foxy), can only handle 3 small blocks at most now, so it's not a long walk for them.

I am going to start walking them together tonight, that should be fun, since Doug doesn't like walking on the lead yet, but I'm hoping having Pip with him, will help him to enjoy it and walk on the lead without hassels.

Sounds good for Doug. You need to get him trained to walk nicely on the leash though.

Enjoy your walk. I'm sure he will!
