Default Dog Being a Bit of a Brat? This Should Give You a Laugh

Okay, so all day James (nine year old mutt) has just been a little brat. Not listening to commands, generally causing mischief. He woke the baby (Jenny), cried when I wouldn't let him in with her, threw himself against the door so of course Jenny was over excited and no way she had any plans to go back to sleep.

Great. I thought there must be something wrong with James,I made sure he was fed, checked his bedding, gave him some cuddles and kisses, all to no avail.

So I was exhausted (baby was up at five am) he got in under my feet while I was getting breakfast for my eldest before school, jumped up and ate her food! I scolded him and I swear he just gave me an evil grin. Daughter needs to have something to eat before school otherwise she's an absolute nightmare with the other kids, so after I had her fed, clothed, and ready for school, James decides to run through the dog flap and give Jemma a big kiss before school, spoiling her uniform! I did not have time to get the stains out, so I re-dressed her as quickly as possible, and of course she's missed the bus. So I drive her to school, all the while poor Jenny is screaming in the backseat because she's totally out of whack, hungry but exhausted. By the time I got home, I was ready to spit chips. Jemima (our girl staffy) got the hint that I was in no mood for mischief and was a sweet little angel, sat down with her bone quietly with Jermaine (boy pittie)

So I was dirty, exhausted and starving. I made myself a nice cup of coffee and collapsed on the couch. James wanders up to the table, puts his front paws up and sniffs my coffee.

    He looks at me.
    I look at him.
I warned him it was hot.
He looks at me with defiant eyes.
Something takes over me. Something only another worn out mother can understand. I say 'Go on, I dare you.'
In slow motion, James' tongue unrolls and the tip hits the surface of my drink.
James pulls a horrified face, runs around the house like a headless chook, then obediently sits with the other dogs who are having a good chuckle at his expense.

What do you know? He's been a perfect angel ever since.

Moral of the story kiddos? Never mess with a mother's coffee.

    HAHAHAHAHA! I love it!

I'm a grouch in the mornings without coffee. Batty stays in his crate until I'm down to the last mouthful...
