Is she entire... sounds like a phantom to me...they can react in a kinds of manner.. poor thing her hormones are raging... I have a product that I got from from Frozen Puppies its a hormone balancer for females, seems to work well... I had one girl who thought she was preg, even up to on the day the pups should have been due, went into falce labour, had me worried for a bit (I was beginning to believe her) ... If it is, there isn't much you can do just wait it out... some bitches have a terrible time, if so I would recommend desexing... I have known desexed bitches to have phantoms too, although not to the same extreme...

    Sounds like it to me.

Just let her ride it out - for now.

Some bitches will imitate a pregnancy right down to weight gain, collecting stuffed toys, building a den and so on & then on the due date nothing.

If she is licking her teats then she is stimulating the milk flow.

If it persists too far past her due date (if it was a real pregnancy) your vet may prescribe hormones or other drugs (can't remember the name), but a lot just prefer to let them recover from it naturally and hope her hormone balance rights itself.

Um...DA tip-toes in, cause Da's not an experienced breeder. Lol.

Cleas, there are a few natural remedies over the years that some vets and owners have found really useful in giving their bitch whilst they are going through a phantom pregnancy, or better still, given just as they come into season.

    Could be worth considering?

Well a lot of bitches suffering from a pahntom pregnancy usually come right within 48 hours or so of the expected whelping date, don't they? Yet I've seen some that have taken 2-3 weeks following 'whelping date' before they got over it.

Hopefully she'll be okay soon Cleas. And hopefully this won't happen next season.

oh sorry, didnt realise she was a show girl, are you coming to the Vic champ show, I've got my baby entered for his first show (if his ears ever rise)... just ride it out, as state there are a few hormon balancing tricks you can try... if your into natural remedies there are heaps, most that work for two legged's also will help.... usually they settle back down after the 'pups' are born... she might steal some toys... Just because she had a phantom this time, doesnt mean she will next time... Lots of TLC is the best cure...lol

I would still show her, you will probably find most of the girls in her class will be the same... lol... The humping is hormonal, all my girls do it when coming into and thru a season... in this instance it's not dominance... I've got some herbs that were mixed for me after my turmor surgery when I went into full blown menopause, I'm not really sure exactly what is in it, but it stopped my hot flushes and stablized my hormones, so now I use it for the dogs...lol.. I got it from a health food shop...

    Good luck at the show....

Cleas, go and ask at your health food shop if they have anything with pulsatilla in it.
