    Default Pedigree Dog Names

I was wondering about the pedigree dog names, i know there are some breeders on her and purebred dog owners who would know their dogs 'pedigree name'.

Can anyone take the time to explain it to me?
I have noticed some have 'CH' at the beginning and some have UK or AUS etc, so obviously that would be the country where they are born i assume, then you usually have the breeders prefix ? then the pedigree name ?
I have have seen on breeders website they will say this is a pic of Nightime dreamer, - "Bella"
    or something similar.

How do you come up with the name?
And also, when you register the pups, would it be rejected if there was another purebred with that name.

I suppose its a good way to work things in the pedigrees with the unique names, as there would be alot of Sams, alot of Bellas etc......

    THANKS X

No, the CH stands for Champion. CH is a dog who has reached a level of championship status in whatever country. Like AUS, NZ, UK, CAN, NOR... .

For example, Inca is not my dog's name. It's what I call her, and what she is registered as with council, microchipping, petsafe and all those other places, like vet surgery, pet store etc.

I have noticed some have 'CH' at the beginning and some have UK or AUS etc, As DA said it means Australian Champion - AUSCH so obviously that would be the country where they are born i assume, then you usually have the breeders prefix ? Yes then the pedigree name ? Yes
I have have seen on breeders website they will say this is a pic of Nightime dreamer, - "Bella" Is the call name (or pet name)
    or something similar.

How do you come up with the name? Just as you would for a pet name - whatever takes your fancy
And also, when you register the pups, would it be rejected if there was another purebred with that name. No only if there was a prefix with that name

I suppose its a good way to work things in the pedigrees with the unique names, as there would be alot of Sams, alot of Bellas etc......

    THANKS X
    Hope that helped a little

    CH = Champion
    Aust CH = Australian Champion
    GR CH = Grand Champion
UK CH = United Kingdom Champion

In a pedigree name...the kennel prefix is ALWAYS mentioned first...then the dog's name and if you are advertising your dog on lets say DogzOnline you would put their pet name like "Sumo"

A dog that has the title Ch in front mean that dog has gained 100 points at championship dog shows. A dog that has GR CH means that dog has gained 1000 points..
The first name is the breeders prefix ie mine is Kimbastaff so any dog I breed starts with Kimbastaff. I then have so many letters (25 ?? I think ) to make up my dogs name, I must submit two for each pup... as long as its not going to be confused with one that already has your prefix you can use anything... different prefix can have the same, I had CH Kimbastaff Painted Black and at the same time she was being shown in the same class was another breeder with .... Painted Black...
There are also titles that go after the name... ET Endurance test Passed... and various Obedience titles..including Agility and Jumpers... you may also see Flyball titles now, but they are a different register to the ANKC althou most accepted... I think now there are other titles too, like sheep hearding and earth dog... but not sure what these are....

My Jap Spitz Kimba was Ch Alandmeri Snow Crusader CDX AD
Dooee is Kimbastaff Cassanova ET CD
Another I bred - Eddie is Kimbastaff Heart O Glass CCD FDX

Another important note - our titles are very to gain, and we hate it when the dogs name is in print anywhere without the full title...lol...

    Hope this helps...
