So scary. I'm glad she found her way home. That's really impressive seeing as you haven't lived there too long!

A crate is definitely a cheap alternative to start with, and they can be a really good security blanket. We use them alot with our Salukis as they are next to impossible to contain.

Climbing over fences can also result in horrible injuries if they hang up on the top at all... shudder... I know a girl who hung up by her front leg, broke and tore all the ligaments in her shoulder as well as breaking her jaw and all her adult teeth on one side trying to escape before her owners got home from work. Needless to say she stays safely in a crate when unsupervised now.

The endless frustration and fear of your dogs escaping is not worth it, having a secure crate makes life so much more manageable!!

yesterday, i was at a mates place, and I noticed all of her dogs had electric collars. like, you set a barrier, and whenever they go past the bariier a loud noise sounds... maybe you could try that? Im not sure wheter i would want to use it though, its sounds pretty nasty for the dog, with their ears so close and stuff.
