    Default Picking Dog Names

I was wondering how you guys come up with your dogs names, and how you decide on just one. I'm assuming most of you have partners/husbands etc.

The reality of my Ferrero (my dream brown newfie) has been flung out the window for now and we will **fingers crossed** be getting a little black boy in September this year.

I want to name him Jace, but my partner isn't too keen. He will want to call him something like Bundy (which isn't a bad name, but I don't think it's suitable for a newfie).

I don't think my partner even knew what a newfie was until I came into his life , but now he seems to be into it more then I am...which I find hard to believe! I think he only accepted the name Ferrero because he knew how long I have wanted him for seeing as though I had a name picked out and all

I think it's going to be quite difficult for us to come up with a name that we both like and that will suit our dog.

I love picking names. My next Newfie will be coming around November/December, hopefully. I will call him Wolfgang.

I think you have a name in your heart that just comes to you. I found looking at the Newfoundland name sites really helpful too Ferrero.

Yeah mate, I just googled Newfoundland names, came up with all these different sites. Some were okay, some were excellent IMO. That's where Inca came from.

Ok so I name my Tibbies Tibetan show names and usually they are either translations of a name I already gave then or viseversa. My girl I called CC cause as a baby she was a Copper Commet and that (in tibetan) is her show name. I saw my boy and his attitude reminded me of Tony from NCIS so thats his name Most of the time I just throw around some names until I find the one that fits the dogs look and attitude.

But what do you do if you and your partner can't agree on a name?

What's the best way to make a decision?

we try not to pre name our dogs, we wait until we get to see them and spend some time with them. pepsi's name was alexandra, but she never responded to it, but she was black and bubbly and sweet, so she got called pepsi.

maybe wait for the pup, spend some time with it and see what come naturally, my friend ordered a bassett and was going to call him Augustus, but he was so cute and boofy as a puppy he ended up as Hugo!

keep throwing out names until you find one you both like!

or find one you really like and fight for it!

I've had a Jace. Never heard of anyone else though.

Named so because he was always up to something and we were constantly saying "Jesus Christ" (sorry if I offend anyone), what's he up to now etc etc. Some how it evolved from Ace to Jace as we tried to kerb our language in case it upset anyone.

We try and go through them a short-list that we both like, until one stands out that we both seem to agree on the most. As I have a family, it is run by all of them, as all of them will be living with and using that name etc.
