Default A Plea to All Rescue Organisations

We are dog owners. We are dog lovers - if we weren't, we wouldn't have them. We wouldn't allow our carpets to be wrecked, our gardens to be dug up, our furniture to be slobbered on or our lives to be turned topsy-turvy if we werent!

We are not complete imbeciles who know nothing about canines. We actually know a lot. In some regards we may even go so far as to ascertain we possibly know as much as you.

We are also people just like you. When searching for a dog to rescue, we treat you with the respect and dignity you deserve. We expect to be treated with the same respect and dignity. I repeat, we are people, not a number at the end of the computer, not merely a voice at the end of the phone line.

Please remember this. Because for every time you get it wrong, you may have just stuffed up a dog's chance of being happy or even alive.

We were all once pet owners who have taken a further step. Unless your name is Ceasur Milan, we were not "born" with animal knowledge and it would be incredibly WRONG of rescue orgs to assume adoptive parents know any less than them, OR are unwilling to learn!

If we knew EVERYTHING....our lives would be pretty much over....I can only speak for myself but personally I have learnt and received SO MUCH knowledge and assistance from you non-rescuers!!!! I NEVER want to stop collecting information, knowledge and learing!!!!

For the sake of the animal, we must NOT get it wrong. We HAVE to scrutinise and present an honest case, do our due diligence and GET IT RIGHT!!!! I am VERY proud to add I have had 1 return our of 66 odd dogs, and that boy ended up being adopted by my own son, so was meant to be. This is literally life and death and we must get it right! We don't have to like the people (although I always do I must admit), we don't have to live the same way, talk the same way, do the same things. What we have to do is match the right family to each and every individual dog on a case by case basis. Sometimes we don't have a dog suitable for an applicant. We have to be honest about this otherwise our good name is no longer
