Question Why Should We Get Our Animals Vaxxed?

so you all got up in arms about the thread before that was asking a valid question. why should all owners get their animals vaxxed? we had dogs growing up and they werent vaxxed yet lived long healthly lives. the only animal we have had vaxxed and continued to vax etc is with our purebred dashhound.

i honestly dont see the big deal with it. if so many do it, diseases should be stopped as it is. its just like it is with children.

If vaccinating is not important, why'd you go out of your way to do it for your purebred dog?

I vaccinate all my cats and dogs, crossbreeds included!

the reason we continue to vaccinate is that it only takes one out break of any disease, lets say parvo... to infect thousands of dogs, it spreads like the recent bird flu... the more unvaccinated dogs the more the disease spreads... atm your dog is the only one likely to get sick... Purebred or not your dog needs to be vaccinated, you can now opt for a 3 yearly vaccination in Australia...

she is my parents dog. i wouldnt spend that much money on a dog breed i am not particually fond of. i only pay for her food and flea treatments. thats it.

I love my dogs but as they are ever just on farm, no contact with others bar the working ones on the other farm, vet visits I tend not to vaccinate after a while except for heartworm which is endemic here. In saying that though, as I am ill, as my dogs (the pups anyway) may need a kennel at times I will be keeping up with theirs. The mother would be fine left here at the farm with daily visits from her carer.

Bec - read your posts, if you are genuine fine I'll appologise ... but your posts are all over the place... they dont make sense when you go from one thread to the other... one thing about the truth - you don't have to make it up....

i didnt create the thread by rebekahleigh. i know her though. she has a weird sense of humour.

but i think its a valid question. why should we get our dogs or animals in general vaxxed?

we only ever got one dog done and that is our purebred who i pay for apart from her vaxxes as i dont have the money for that being a single parent.

The AVA now support and recommend once every 3 years boosters for dogs after their first few vaccinations up to a year old.

It is possible to overvaccinate. Vaccines place an enormous strain on the immune system and should never be given to immunologically compromised animals (or people!).

The other thread was a perfect example of trolling AF. Asking a question is not trolling unless it turns into the same sort of stirring. People all have different knowledge levels and opinions.
