Purebred or not your dog needs to be vaccinated, you can now opt for a 3 yearly vaccination in Australia...
Not to mention that diseases aren't stagnant - they are biological and ever changing (ie mutations) which is why flu shots are constantly being updated and include not one strain but many different strains of flu.

Having said that, I would never ever get the flu shot but I sure as hell will vaccinate my dog and any future children. There's a reason why polio hasn't been seen in Australia for the past 30 years. Let's keep it that way.

Also, just because you're a self-proclaimed hippy, doesn't make it ok to make uneducated ridiculous and potentially fatal (not just to you, but to others) decisions. That is NOT what being a 'hippy' is about. To me, people who don't vaccinate their children BY CHOICE are biological criminals and ignorant tools are scum of the Earth no matter what scene or social class you belong to.

    /end rant

My dogs and cats are all vaccinated because we have dealt with parvo before and it is not a nice disease. I would never want to have another dog go through it. It is also reccommended in multi animal households that you vaccinate your animals. I have even vaccinated my rabbits due to there being a rabbit disease break out in our area. I know alot of people who don't vaccinate and yes their dogs live long lives but I know a few that weren't so lucky and have even see 2 friends dogs die because of parvo, and 1 that got kennel cough and was sick for weeks.

I guess one of the main reasons to vaccinate your dogs is parvo. Parvo is so easily spread, your dogs dont need to come in contact with other dogs to get it.

I am not sure if they share any diseases? Dogs can't contract our flu and we can't get their parvo...so I really don't know to be honest. You might want to ask your vet about this

I have 3 dogs, Neyla is due again in a week for her 2nd vacc, Lilli is overdue (2nd vacc) to personal reasons but will be getting done when Neyla gets her and Codie isnt my dog and my parents havent given me an answer to getting her done.
After the 2nd vacc when are they due again?

i live on a farm so ours dont get vaxxed every year, alot of people are for it as are those against, alot of the vets have told us its not really that necessary and they can actually become immune to it or something..

When they do need to go to the vet they get what they need to get done but they dont urge us to vax X

Where's the threads where I promised to post more information on vaccinations?

It seems my posts regarding not vaccinating humans have been deleted. I have no idea why.. I think that it's a tad biased to removed posts just because you don't agree with them DA.

Anyway, here is a blog with information which I was asked for at the time

Earthy Motherhood: Childhood vaccination- fears, hopes and realities.

If my posts keep getting removed just because the mods don't agree with them, then there is no point me staying here. I think Anne left for the same reason.
