As you all may know Bailey has been scared of men since she was a young pup as we had a guy living with us when she was young. I think he may have given her a boot or two
Anyway this is something I have been working on for a really really long time! and mostly to no avail.
When approached by a male (especially larger men) she immediately cowers, hackles up, growls and pulls backwards on the lead in an attempt to escape!
I have been using praise, "NO", treats etc to teach her that she is able to approach men and they her without being in any danger. Its been a very slow progress.
Well last night I took Bailey to the kennels with me (as I have been every night, since staying with mum) and she met a new male.
Well............She immediately growled, hackled up (no cowering or attempt at escape) I gave a deep firm NO. The bloke sat on the ground and held his hand out and told her in a calm voice that he wont hurt her. IT ONLY TOOK TWO MINUTES! and she was ALL OVER him! lol.......sitting on his lap, licking his hands etc etc.
I am so gobsmacked! VERY VERY VERY PROUD OF MY BABY GIRL!
We are finally making some headway! Persistence and time but we are getting there.
