Absolutely no idea... I actually thought it had something to do with DOL to be honest.

I think DOL "sponsor" it. I don't know how that works either.

I don't know if that means DOL members vote. Or only MDBA members vote. Or anybody can vote or if they have a panel of judges who decide - though what criteria they use - would be interesting to know.

Ie not much point nominating someone you like but meets none of the criteria for winning.

Anyway - I've seen the logos in a fair few sigs around the place, and I've visited the website, which didn't have the results up the next day. I guess the webmaster was hung over? She is from the country - probably travelling home

And I've seen the nomination forms.

But I can't for the life of me figure out how they decide who the winners are. Judging panel with all reference to names removed Or how people know to nominate or who to nominate. You have to fit within a criteria to nominate, ie for example, someone within SPR nominated me as they know how I work. You could not nominate me because you are not part of SPR as an org Who nominates people for "most responsible pet owner" The breeders themselves and then what do they do to get the award? A detailed nomination is submitted and put before the judging panel Is there a voting system? No Who votes? The judging panel

It seems very very biased towards NSW/VIC - is that just becuase more people from there have something to do with MDBA? Perhaps there are more nominations from these states? And given that DB - is about dog breeding, for which I have very little interest at the moment being very happy with my pound puppy... I hadn't bothered to look at the website before. But none of the local breeders I know were nominated or won, and none of the fantastic vets I know, where on the list. Thats because no one "bothered to nominate them I assume The only people I know that were on there, are what I'd call "internet friends" ie people I've met through the forums.

Is it only an internet based choosing system - ie if you're not on the net, nobody is going to know you or vote for you? How does anyone know about people they didn't nominate?

Ie I've got not much idea why people were nominated, or why people won. I know some great candidates in my opinion, locally but ... none of them were nominated.

So can those of you who are clearly part of the MDBA system - enlighten me?
Hope that helps, however I believe you will find further information on the MDBA website when nominations for 2011 open in a few months time
