If the crate works then use it, I think it's important that they can eyeball each other through it though. Maybe put something on the top that Precious can jump on to so her wee legs don't go through the bars! (Ooh I'm assuming it's a wire crate)

It doesn't sound like Miley is actually trying to attack as such, just barking and running at her. Showing her who's boss! Lol you may find it gets sorted quickly if Precious manages to swipe Miley's nose!

Well it went ok, Precious did swipe and hiss when she got on the top of the crate and Miley went for a sniff, but was quickly put her in her place without getting her eyeball

They are happy to sit at a distance from each other without the crate now.. it's much better than before when there was all the hissing and barking and carry on.

Dogs and cats are different creatures
    And have many different features
This strange usurper in her midst
Makes her feel like she's been dissed

A chi my family owned years ago had this happened, the dog and cat were ok in the same room but the cat would swipe if the dog got too close.
Unfortunatly the dog lost his eye after trying to jump on someones lap without realising the cat was already there.

That's great to hear! They will get better over time too. Miley and Ollie may get a tad annoyed with her when the kitten rambunctiousness gets the better of her
