I dont know what they have a bad rep for, not even sure if its just staffys or pit bulls, but I always hear that they are vicious and attacking dogs (possibly because of the stories of *i think* pitbulls or staffies attacking children). I generally choose not to listen to these people though.

Dogue de bordeaux attracted me because they're not an active breed, they're short coated, they are known for having a temperment, they're big and they have such a squishy face

Maybe you're thinking pit bulls, Boxerini. Their reputation, deservedly or not, is debatable.

I've never come across a Staffordshire bull Terrier though who wouldn't play with you to death. And I've come across a lot of them. They are a dog I would always recommend for a family. I'm sure there are badly bred ones out there, and badly reared ones, like any breed, but as a whole their temperament to my knowledge and experience in dealing with them is adorable.

    No need to appogize DA

Floyd was diagnosed with mild cataract last yr. Floyd's vet referred us to a Canine Ophthalmologists who said that Floyd's cataracts were just in development stage & very tiny, there may never be a need for cataract surgery as they may stay dormant & not grow or cause any sight problems for Floyd. So far its been all good with he's sight & the cataracts have been dormant. Canine Ophthalmologists recommended that i buy Floyd the canine sunnies to minimize sun exposure & lower the risk of the cataracts growing any bigger etc.

I think I might be thinking about pit bulls. I have to admit, the staffies I have met have been pretty nice. My parents seem to think that the breed ( I say this because I dont know what one it is) is vicious because of the reports of the breed allegedly attacking kids. But then again, my parents are pretty damn closeminded. Mum wouldnt even consider a Weimeraner because of their 'funny eyes' as she put it. Sorry if i have upset anybody.

PMSL@your mum. Oops, sorry. Shouldn't laugh.

Staffies are generally an exceptionally friendly breed of dog, Boxerini. Magnificent with kids.

Your words are so very true DA, their affectionately known as "The Nanny Dog" for very good reason's, for their love & devotion to kids

There is a common saying amongst us SBT folk.. if your SBT goes walk abouts on its own free will, then the 1st place to look for them is at Schools, daycare centers, parks etc any where that kids are.
