    Default Breed Choice Undecidedness.

So, a while ago, I posted a thread asking for breed recommendations. I eventually settled ona great dane, but I am worried that a dane might be just a little TOO big for what im looking for. I was considering a standard poodle, but all the information i could find said that they only got up to 15 inches at the wither( is that the correct term for dogs? im a horse person), and it seemed a little odd. On tv last night, there was a poodle, and it seemed round about the size of a lab, maybe a little bigger. is that right? what breeds would you reccomend? Im looking for an easy to train, lab size+,good for agility, and someting that not everybody has(labs, goldens etc). No offenc, but I dont like the staffy, bully, bull arab types, or breeds that are used for pigging. so, based on that, what would you recommend? im not really a fan of GSDs, but I have to say, i did see a drop dead gorgeous one at dog training last week. ( DT wasnt on yesterday, there was a flood.)
    so, what would you reccomend?

There are three different sizes of Poodle, the lab sized one is called a Standard Poodle.

Did you look into a Viszla or a Dobermann, they were suggested to you last time but you never commented.

Weimaraner? Or maybe even an English Springer Spaniel, they are on the smaller side, but gosh they are stunning - may need more grooming than you would like though?

I think the recommendation of a Viszla or Dobermann is definitely one to consider

I have never heard of a viszla, but i did look into a dobermann, bu mum seems to think they are vicious, so no go. they are gorgeous dogs though. I remeber when I was little, we had to bitches come visit. there was a red and a black. Oh, if I was allowed to get the dog breeds i liked...

    Dobermanns are certainly NOT vicious.

But I would seriously not recommend a person of your age or experience to purchase a Dobermann for the needs you require.

    How old is the OP?

I still think a Weim would be nice

    I agree, Angela, a short-coated gun-dog might be ideal.

There are different breeds of gun dogs Boxerini. Others in that line may also suit you well, so look up gun-dogs and see what breeds appeal to you, maybe?

I didn't know the OP was young and inexperienced
