I had my puppies at my front door - not only good for business but my babies got great fresh air and morning sun in winter made it a beautiful spot. But hot in summer so they were moved away but ppl knew we had puppies and always stopped for cuddles and pats.

Somebody gave me a mastiff x lab puppy once. Lady come in bawling her eyes out. Apparently she tried to give it to her hubby as a gift but he was not impressed and told her to go get rid of it and not come home till it was gone or he would kill it. She was so beside herself he meant what he said. I already had 4 jack russell puppies and was a bit worried about putting this massive pup with the tiny tots. But her crying made me think, I can't let that puppy go back there.. I put him in the pen and all was good. He laid down with them, never tried to hurt them. Turned my back for a moment, come back and the pup was gone. I'd had already gone through heartache of stolen puppies and thought I'd lost another. Looked out the front door to find him trotting up the road. Left my shop wide open, unattended and went after this cheeky puppy. Gorgeous puppy. I carried him back & put him back in the pen, thinking it was probably a once of thing but nope, he jumped out again so sadly I had to lock him in a crate. Some friends of ours looking for a good size dog showed interest and took him. I sold him for the cost of the microchip and 2 vaccines just to be sure they would do they right thing. They were stoked with that. I had him only for a couple hours before we found a home for him. I saw him recently, still a puppy (in the head) - he is one humungus sook.

You must be in my area Do they sell dog food there? I haven't been in the shop for some years.
Yeah, they sell loads of it. Nearly every brand I can think of in 18kg bags - Supercoat puppy 18kg for $52. That's pretty good value when you work it out - 3.5 kg is $13 in the supermarket, that's $5.10 kilo for that bag. Total rip off! BTW Brookfield doesn't sell puppies or kittens, they're mainly small animal sellers. Where do you live Niques?

    Hi there

A few weeks ago I was in a Westfields in western sydney when I saw a man looking at a dog from the outside of the shop. The label said GSX X, but I coulndt tell what they were crossed with, and neither could he.

I politely suggested to him that he get in touch with the NSW Canine council, find a breeder, and source a genuine GSD that way if he wanted one. I said to him that I would not reccomend buying from the pet shop as the dogs were most likely from a puppy mill. The guy agreed, and we parted on good terms after having a 5 minute chat about Tara, our blue Great Dane, who we love to bits, and she loves us the same.

    Regards
    Grakat

FYI: I know many people avoid Pets Paradise because they sell puppies and kittens...
Many of these people tell me they now shop at Pet Goods Direct stores instead, as PGD do not sell pups...
Did you know that both these chains are owned by the same company? They both operate with the same brands (PGD have bigger range than the small PP shops), same prices, same policies, same Head Office.

Visit Paradise Retail Holdings for proof!

Yes, I do this. But I do it to demonstrate to the company (and I have written to them to this effect) that a lot of members of the public have no desire to see animals in their stores.
