Yay! Wow Judge, what a lovely thing for someone to say and do! I hope you're feeling a little better about yourself, you've had a big battering lately.

Showing is fun, and yes it is time consuming. It can certainly be a family day out very easily. Think of it like a picnic day with added extras, like dogs and friends etc.

Sorry but it doesn't matter which ring or what state it is....you need thick skin. Gennie is a lovely lady and a wonderful Judge. Good luck

So I have done some research, visited the dog show in gawler and thought about it all A LOT!

Im very interested but would like to speak with the breeder some more to go through the general stuff eg. how often, which shows etc

Have discussed it with another person who shows (for herself) but with one of the breeders dogs. She told me that because the breeder is so well renowned that she only goes to the BIG shows like nationals, state, royals etc. So I will confirm this with the Breeder etc and see how I go

OH is being an asshole about it.....too much commitment, not enough money ...idiot doesnt realise that THE MONEY DOESNT MATTER (its just a bonus ) the amount of knowledge I will get from it will be unbelievable and its a once in a lifetime offer!

So Im going there again this weekend to see her, take Bailey for obedience and a swim and I will let you all know how it goes

    Good for you Judge,

It's not all doom and gloom in the ring otherwise we wouldn't all still be there. I had a break for a while due to personal reasons then came back in a new ring and swapped again two years later.

I've met my two best mates thru dog shows although they remain in the working dog ring. Even when we competed against each other it never came between us.

I've met others who I call dog friends, but this other couple are my all time best mates and have remained so even when I didn't show for a while etc.

So I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!! and started yesterday!

I went to the GSD Club and had such a good time! I spent most of the day with the 3 bitches I will be working with. 2 pups named Delta and Vixen and an older bitch named.........coincidental or what?.........Bailey!!!

Im pretty well doing a crash course this week, be training everyday! Because on the weekend I have to handle Bailey during some breeding thing?! Not sure what it is (still learning lol) but she is a beautiful bitch although she is a little big for a female. Stands at 62 but one of the judges we spoke with yesterday said she may be able to get in 2nd class (i think lol, please bare with me )

So I had a really good day! and then.................I came home

Brad is not happy at all about it and has told me I need to choose between dogs and him and his daughters?! WTF????? Why the hell should I? Why cant I have both?!

So anyway argued about it because I think he should be supportive about it and he thinks I being selfish!
Anyway long story short he has told me when I get home tonight to pack my stuff and Bailey and leave

Am I being selfish? I dont have any other hobbies or anything?!

Maybe me leaving is for the best?!

    OK Rant over!

Oh Judge, I am so sorry. To have a crap ending to a lovely day is always horrible.

Firstly - well done for taking on the job and for doing something for YOU. I love showing and I enjoy the fun aspect of it. I think it always makes for a great day out and I nice way to spend some time doing something you enjoy.

Secondly - I really feel for you in your personal circumstance. I hope there is somewhere for you to go first off and he has not 'dumped you on the street' so to speak. I will not give you advice on what to do as I feel not being there and seeing what is happening it is not my place, but I will say in a general aspect. It is good for all couples to have something they want to do just for them. I think you need to stop and think what you want from the showing (and I not talking just the dog side of it - I am talking about confidence and happiness in yourself amongst other things), and what you want for your relationship.

I hope things work out for you and the road forward is a little easier for you in the coming months.
