    Default Thanks Doof

I let Grace out this morning while I hung the laundry - completely forgeting the yard was sprayed for weeds yesterday - until I saw her start to go into the grass. Grace eats grass - simple as that - she likes how it tastes. So I tried to grab her - no good - she is fast and sneaky - so I sent Rufus after her.

We had been playing fetch so he was already in drive but he loves to chase the cats which I rarely let him do. So right round the property - he corner her - I told him to "hold her" and he came straight to me - so she took off again. Again he goes for the chase and finally gets her around the side of the house with the doors where she takes off and goes up onto a windo ledge - this time when i said "hold her" he stood watching her.

She sat on the ledge and just spat at him if he made too much eye contact - enough time for me to grab her and put her inside.

Don't worry - she isn't scarred by the experience - I was patting her and he came past and she just looked at him and rolled over for a cuddle.

He does chase the kittens when they do zoomies and Einstein is fine - he has been rolled so many times due to Rufus' lack of brakes he just goes into a roll and attacks Doofs feet and nose lol - and the girls generally stop and hiss at him which makes him back off.

Einstein will never be able to be outside - not only because of his nose, but because he is way too friendly - he fears nothing. Naturally I want to keep both cats inside but until I get a cat run I want to give grace the chance to be outside when I am. she doesn't climb fences until she is very comfortable with where she is so I am not worried about her getting out whilst I am out there.

Im not worried that Rufus will chase animals outside the property - I know he does - not to attack but because he wants to sniff and greet - this is the next step for us to work on - thats why I only walk him off lead in quiet areas where I have a 360 degree view.

Must remember to not let Grace out til the weeds die - she only eats fresh greens.

Right thats two loads of laundry and the dishes done...one more load and I can go shower and get dressed - do a touch of shopping and come back to the aircon - 38 here today

Dunno what kind of weed killer you use but most of the ones I use - have a very short keep the animals off period. I think for Glyphosate (zero) it is until it dries/2 hours. For weed and feed (broad leaf weed killer) it might be 24 hours but I thought it was less.

How long are you planning to keep them off?

This was roundup and is dry in 2 hrs but the leaves have been poisoned so I wont risk it with the cats - dog is fine, he doesn't eat grass
