There is a particularly nice one going around the Sydney rings at the moment. He has this huge stuffed toy that is his favourite toy.

The young girl who shows him is going to Crufts for Junior Handler, she is a marvelous handler, she puts this dog on an extender lead and throws this huge toy for him and gets him really excited then he enters the ring and just floats.

Because we enter straight after the Saluki's I always get to watch them.
Hey mouseandchicken - it's not a young female is it? Same colour as Genie?

It could be and yes the same colour.

I don't know if it's a good Saluki, but it certainly shows very well.

Sounds like his sister - nuts for her toys. She looks like she's lunging a horse before they go in the ring...

Each time she goes to a show she has to select her own new soft toy from the trade stand. And if you take it from her and hide it she will find the exact same one again...

She is beautiful, but a wildly huge personality!! Spring loaded - she jumps to head height from a standstill. Not laid back like her brother...

    Nat,
That sounds like her, she had this huge octopus toy last time I saw her.

Now give us one with her head up.... she's so pretty!

My girl drops her head on the stack - doesn't do her any favours at all. If she lifts it and I'm having a good day with her I can get her to look nice:

But it's a bit rare I'm afraid - and she's been doing it her whole life! So I think you and Lades have done a very good job!
Oh, what a beautiful dog! What breed is it? It looks saluki/sloughi type...

I think it's a deerhound. A sighthound of some sort.

    Borzoi.

Or Russian Wolfhound as they used to be known - which is more self explanatory.

The boys have big long curly coats, girls (Like Sonya above) have less.

Box - stacking is the term used for standing the dog up in a show. Most dogs have a usual way of stading - rear legs streched bak a little etc. It is a standerd stance that shows off that breed's particular physique. It is also much easier to compare dogs to each other when they all stand in much the same way.

And yep, mac - that's her alright, with the octopus. She is lovely.
