    Question Choose Your Pup Website

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of the website "choose your pup" basically you click a link and you can pick the size colour height and build of either a heeler or kelpie!

Has anyone seen or read about this? I was googling heeler pup's cos i think it we get a second a dog that's what we will get and i came across this website!

    Hi taraboombara

Heelers are also known as "australian cattle dogs"

and you can find some here...
    Australian Cattle Dog Rescue

Do be aware they like two hours of exercise a day - an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening. They don't mind having a rest in between (unlike Kelpies and Border collies). They can be quite willful / disobedient too so it takes more effort to get them to do what you want than with some other dogs. And unlike most labradors, an ACD isn't always interested in treats either.

    These are Di Dee's pups

I got Frosty from Animal Welfare League and she and the rest of her litter were never put up on the web.

I know quite a few websites that have "breed selectors" but not a "choose your pup" for ACD.

I don't know much about what you want in a dog or what you can give your dog in terms of time and training and walks. So I can't help you decide between kelpie or ACD.

If you have ALL DAY to spend with your dog asking you to give it work to do, a kelpie or a border collie is a good option. And they need just as much exercise as an ACD, but they won't tell you when they've had enough - they'll go until they can't go anymore and fall over. That's why I chose an ACDx - they're just as smart, but a bit more relaxed.

I think most dogs can be trained - it's up to you to find what works for your dog, and every dog is a little bit different. If you want a dog that is easy to train and quite lazy - a labrador can be a good choice - though as puppies they need a lot of entertainment. Then again - I don't know a puppy that doesn't need a lot of attention.

PS what kind of dog is Jade? And do you know what kinds of dogs she likes to play with (take her to a dog exercise area and see...).
The only dogs I've seen get by with little or no training and not much daily exercise are the small and stupid ones.

Don't forget I have River here to get to a good home. He is blue heeler. 11 weeks old. Sire has papers and Pretty is crossed with border collie. Both River and Bandit are listed on pet register I think it is.
