Thread: Change of Name?

  1. #1

    Default Change of Name?

I am adopting a four year old Corgi - The owners changed her original name when they got her, and although her name is cute and okay - would it be unfair for me to give her a third change of name, considering this will be her third home? I am really concerned about making sure her transition is smooth.

Somoene at work told me its not about the name, its the tone you call them in anyway.

Lord no - Flash was called Chewie when i got him - not a good name for a dog with a skin condition. Took a while but he was 7 and he got what could have been his 5th or 6th name

Dogs are very intelligent. Try and think of it as an 'fresh start' for her. New name, new home etc.

Millie was Indie when I first got her, I would have left it because I quite liked the name but my 5 year old (then 4) kept calling her Millie (DoG knows why!) and it just stuck. She didn't care and I don't even know if Indie was her original name.

Very true ... and to a dog, despite whatever name you call them, in their brain it just registers as "Did someone just mention food ?" ... except for my Tara.
