    Unhappy Sad for My Dogs!

My two beauties are very social dogs. They love having their "play dates" and enjoy trips to the river with friends and BBQ's and things like that.

Unfortunately in the last two months we have said goodbye to pretty much all their dog friends in town which is devestating. I like to keep them socially active as I think it is good for their behaviour etc but it seems we have run out of friends.

I have tried befriending a man on the corner, but I think he just thinks I am weird. I have befriended al the other dog friends we had and I think I have run out of people. This town isnt very social, especially to new comers like myself (even though we have been here for two years) and I am quite sad about it all.

Does anyone know of any groups in the Moura, Biloela, Rockhampton area for dog socialisation, or anyone live in those areas that frequent the beach and would love to have a puppy play date.

Hopefully we can find some more friends soon, it sounds silly, but I know we all miss those outings.

I'm sorry I have no advice to offer but I'm so sorry all your doggie friends moved away.

Hi dreamingoflove, I live in Rocky but don't have dogs at the moment ..sigh.. and the few friends I have are not dog owners. I do agree that making friends in C.Q is hard, I came here from Melbourne and oh boy it was a culture shock.

This page has contact details for Rockhampton obedience dog club. Frosty loves the meet and greet before our dog club meetings.

Dog Clubs - Obedience, Agility, Flyball, Breed and Kennel Clubs Queensland

The local "dog clubs" I "joined" were just by finding good places to exercise puppy and going there at reasonably regular hours, eg the local sports ovals before or after work, and the local beaches during doggy off lead hours. Do wait until you've been going for a week or two before you try to swap numbers or something. Or ask them what they'd recommend to someone in your situation and they can offer to make "play dates" if they want or not, and not feel like you're weird. Then again - I don't mind being thought "weird", I like it a whole lot better than being thought "normal" or "ordinary". But that just makes me "weird" too. I know what you mean though if you ask someone to do something with you they read far too much into it.
