Default How Much Did You Pay for Desexing/microchipping?

I was just wondering what sort of price range there is for desexing and microchipping. I guess it would be cheaper for a male dog than a female dog, and probably cheaper for a smaller breed than a larger one?

Anyway, our vet quoted $475 for desexing and microchipping, for a female golden retriever, done at 6 months. I know that our vet practice can be more expensive than others, but I'm still curious.

    Thanks
    Vanessa

Jaz at 18 months cost us $115 and, micro-chipping $55.

They charge per weight, the bigger the dog the more anesthetic they need to use (I believe there may be other reasons too).

We got a package deal with ours too. We paid $153 for Troopa's 2nd + 3rd vacc, microchipping and worming tablets.

Not sure how much desexing is going to cost yet.

I got Frosty from AWL included in the price of desexing and microchipping $340 all up. She was desexed at 8 weeks.

My local vet who is expensive - does female dog desexing for around $300, and males are about half that. Not sure what Microchipping costs - somewhere between $25 and $50, I guess.

I'm not sure why your vet charges that much - his rents or rates must be very high. Most vets will keep the price as low as possible to encourage desexing and microchipping.

    $160 for desexing.

    $35 for microchip.

What you have been quotes seems like a very over inflated price.

So long since mine were done I've forgotten, but with the 4 cats we only had 1 female and our vet was great, gave us a group discount. All 4 were desexed and chipped for $400 the lot.

You shouldn't be paying more than around $300 or so for a girl that size. Sometimes considerably less.

Make some phone calls. If you know her weight most Vet clinics will give you a quote over the phone.

We paid $195 for Bella, plus $79 for pre-anaesthetic blood tests and $49 for an I.V. during and after surgery.

Charlie was $149 plus $79 for blood test.

Blood tests and IV were optional.

Ours came microchipped, so I don't know how much that is, sorry!
