Angry What is Wrong with Some People???

Last night we took our dog for a drive to the beach, the beach is about a 15 minute drive, i still put the dog in her harness in the car. She is small and very well behaved in the car but i feel better knowing she is safe!

Any way we get to the beach and there is this moron with 3 little dogs, maybe terrier mixes, not really sure! none of them are on leads, they are running all over the car park and none are wearing collars. so i grab our dog, attach her long lead to her collar and slip her out of her harness. as soon as she jumps out of the car, these 3 dogs rush at her and start yapping and lunging, she is very non confrontational, so she jumps back in the car.

the little mutts follow her in, this pushes her tolerance and she starts snapping back, i grab the little dogs and putting them on the ground, this moron comes up to me and starts yelling at me to leave his dogs alone, i tell him to get his mutts under control, he tells me that it is a public place he can do whatever he likes!!

My dog is very obedient, we used to do obedience training until we moved and i know my dog will recall on demand, he couldn't even be assed putting collars on them.

We got back in the car and went to a different beach but i cannot believe that people do not seem to understand it is a privilege to own a dog not a right and it is people like him that are stuffing it up for the rest of us!

sorry about the rant! but i think people should be responsible for their dogs, if your going to take them to a public place at least have the courtesy to control them and clean up after them, if you cant control them, don't take them out! simple!

Well Pepsi, I think it's a toss-up between being partly ignorant and partly arrogant.
Hey, I wonder if that's where the slang term 'tosser' came from???

I copped a similar problem when I yelled at a dog for pissing on my stuff at the beach. The owner yelled at me. Hello? Who is in the right here?

Some people do that because it works for them. It's got nothing to do with doing the right thing or obeying the law. I can be a bit take it or leave it about some laws - but when it comes to dogs attacking or damaging my stuff, I think people should be apologising or paying fines or both. And since when is the inside of your car a "public place"? The guy is bonkers. You can't be rational with nut jobs.

Yes I too am constantly amazed by what people seem to think is an appropriate way for their dog to behave in public... Probably the same people who don't give up their seats to the elderly on the train!
