    Default Blue Staffies

Why do they cost so much more than any other purebred staffy?

because people think they are more "rare" than any other colour. This is not true.
If people sell them for more than any other colour then they are not breeding to improve the breed they are only in it for the money.

I actually fell for this when I was looking for a pure Am Staff. Fortunately I did my research. Not only were they Am Bullies (not pure Am Staffs but X bred with papered Pits) but they were also not breed standard because they are too big. This means you cant show them, they are put on limited register; you cannot breed with them.

This is what the Kennel I was interested in: Andonas Kennels - American Staffordshire Terrier

He wanted anywhere up to $2000 to $3000 MORE than any other colour for the blues!

I have also since found out that he runs more of a puppy mill then anything!

Checking out the link now. So is 'blue' in staffy's the same as 'teacup' in toy breeds? Just an marketing scam to jack up the price?

because the breeders can charge that...pure and simple!

People go to Dog Shows and hardly ever see any Blue Staffies and automatically think they must be "rare". They are NOT rare...it is just rare to have a blue Staffy that is good enough for showing.

Why is it rare for them to be show quality? Do they come with genetic defects?

I got my Amstaff from that kennel.

I did want a Blue Amstaff as I just think the colour is beautiful & I used to have a Weimaraner so the colour is similar.

Everyone was quoting us $2000, he said we could have $1800 which is show dog standard or one with a shorter tail for $1200, I thought I am not going to show my dog anyway so I will get the one with a shorter tail. He didn't send us any pics. Some bull**** about his phone not sending pics so we didn't see her until we picked her up from the airport. We took her out & realised that she didn't have a 'shorter tail' she had a little birth defect stumpy tail!! ha ha. We love her for it now but thought it was very cheeky of him.

Judge seen as you did a lot of research is this kennels pure Amstaffs? Her papers say so.

There must be a reason why they're not though?
