Default When is It Too Far?

Everybody has a different idea of how to raise your dogs. What some view as wrong, others view as normal etc.

Now, I don't personally agree with putting little clothes on your dog etc. But on another forum I saw a woman refer to her dogs as 'my son' and 'my daughter' she said she was throwing them a birthday party, she doesn't allow her 'children' to watch sex on telly, and she buys them designer perfume and paints their nails.

Does anyone else think that's just...A step too far?

I think that anthropomorphism can be very dangerous and is increasing in my view.

I agree. Can't do any good for the dogs temperament.

no comment but some ppl do treat their dogs as humans.. But they might have their reasons why.. Ppl do things because they want to. At least u know that one of the child dogs is very looked after.. Isnt that the main thing?

I don't think that is the main thing at all to be honest. People who forget that dogs are dogs are at risk of encouraging behavioural problems with their dogs.

Putting a coat on a dog to protect it from weather extremes or to keep it warm (or cool when it comes to cool coats) is not anthropomorphism.
