Now, I don't personally agree with putting little clothes on your dog etc. But on another forum I saw a woman refer to her dogs as 'my son' and 'my daughter' she said she was throwing them a birthday party, she doesn't allow her 'children' to watch sex on telly, and she buys them designer perfume and paints their nails.

Does anyone else think that's just...A step too far?
Hmmm... I absolutely don't agree with the nail painting or perfume or not letting then watch sex on telly (as if they'd even know!).

You'll never catch me putting my dogs in my handbag or dressing them up in booties (unless maybe they were going to the snow or something extreme like that) or frilly dresses. However, Charlie will be getting a (sensible)
coat in winter for walkies as he has short fur and feels the cold easily.

As for refering to them as children... I call ours "the kids" sometimes. My husband and I don't have children. At this stage in our lives we don't want children or intend to have them in the future. (TBH, and not everyone understands this, I don't particularly like children or babies). Who knows, one day when I get a lot older this may change. Charlie and Bella are treated like dogs - they eat dog food (occassionally they may get something special if we've had a bbq or something), they sleep in a dog bed and play with dog toys. They have rules to follow. I'd do anything to protect them. I firmly believe I love my dogs as much, if not more, as some people love their children. I certainly believe I spend more time with them and know them better than some people I know do their own children.

Oh.. and at Christmas I took them to get their picture taken with "Santa Paws" and then sent it to some family members and all the people who send me pictures of their human kids

Just want to quickly say Bella-would you be offended if someone called your babies dogs? Because these people viewed it as an insult.

Now that's just silly, I won't get offended at what you call your dog just don't call mine that! I don't get insulted about things unless there is need, what need did these people have? Somebody calls my babies dogs I'd laugh in their face and walk off. No insult either way because a random opinion does not matter.
