Default Wondering What Sort of Dog to Get Next?

    Hi all,

We have a 9 yr old female Spoodle, we are thinking about getting a 2nd dog, most likely a rescue. We have always bigger dogs, but we now live in a much smaller home, but my husband would like a dog that will run with him and also be content to sleep during the day while he is working. Our Spoodle was from the RSPCA, she is well trained and socialised but not what i would call active. She likes a walk but not too much of a walk. I love dogs that dont shed too much, does any one have any suggestions about what i should be looking for.

    thanks in advance

    Cas

I wouldn't expect a Spanial X Poodle to be that active!
Did you want a puppy or adult?
Heres a list of all the dogs up for adoption at the RSPCA all over Adelaide. Pleased to see there are only 14.

I suggest Ivy the 2 year old Kelpie X. She will be MORE than happy to be a running companion.
All in all, every single one of those dogs would be happy to have a home to call their own.
Im very glad you have opt to adopt

What about a greyhound? Will sleep all day, probably not the best dog to go running with, a good walk will do. They don't smell, don't shed all that much.

It's important that you try to match a second dog to your first, if she's not that active, an active dog might annoy her wanting to play. And I would recommend looking at a male dog as a second dog.

What i might do is wait until next month when i have some time off and as a family (me, husband and pepsi) we will go to the shelter and meet what they have. I would prefer an older dog, maybe 2 or 3 yrs old. I hadn't considered a staffy, my sister has one and she is a great dog, she was also a rescue! i am prepared to wait until the right dog comes along, we are not in a hurry!

is there staffy rescue in SA?
I don't really want to bring a dog from interstate, i would prefer our dog meet them and spend some time together before we decided on a particular dog
