I think the thing with staffords, is that there are so many BYB them, every week you look in the paper and there is heaps of litters coming out of the average backyard to make a quid, unfortunatley the general public aren't as educated as some people who frequent forums and do there homework.

My reasons for not ever wanting to keep these breeds:
Staffies - Most i have met are hyperactive and jump up and scratch my arms and legs, they have all also mouthed quite hard. Most dont seem to listen to their owners and more than half have resmbled walking coffee tables due to being grossly overweight, yes they should be stocky but hardly being able to walk and having fat rolls everywhere isnt the greatest (i know thats not the dogs fault) It also doesnt help that every bogan in perth has this big fat entire staffy which will cock its leg on everyone and everything. So basically my opinion on this breed has been skewed entirely because of their owners. Id like to meet an obedient staffy that isnt fat and has a good owner one day.
Introducing obedient Staffordshire Bull Terrier and definitely not fat . Ruby is calm...gentle...obedient...a true Lady and an excellent ambassador to the breed:

Tammarkstaff Cleasantas Ruby - winning Best Baby Puppy of Breed at her first show (she is 8 months now)

Introducing "Sumo" Venomstaf Warrior Force - slim, goof ball...fun loving, not a vicious bone in his body, typical DESEXED male Stafford puppy (11 months now)...who LOVES to play ball. He gets really excited when people come, because in the true Stafford nature...he thinks everybody is there for his benefit He is a cuddlepot...a sooky la la

It is those "bogans" that give the breed a bad name...trust me, there are some responsible SBT owners out there.

If you were near me...I would be delighted in showing you my Staffords and you would see the true Staffordshire Bull Terrier

    Thats good to know Floyyd.

Most of my opinion is based bad owners. Staffies are cheap, look tough and easy to find in WA hence a whole lot of people buy them as a first dog. especially younger blokes or people who need guard dogs (IMO staffies are bad guard dogs.. might lick you to death lol and help carry away the goods!) Pet shops definitley dont help either as it seems a 50/50 split between them selling SWF and STB's

Edit after seeing Cleasantas post- Your dogs are beautiful, i dont doubt that there are good staffy owners out there at all.. im just yet to meet any!!! ahh to the day where i meet a nice obedient staffy *dreams* lol I dont think they are bad, ive just met alot of bad ones.. But once again its the bad owners. Yep the bogans definitly do give them a bad name! And you can always pick a staffy owned by one lol

My mum and dad had a JRT, i have nothing against them but i wouldn't want to own one! She was a small dog with a whole lot of attitude, my parents did puppy pre school, obedience and one on one training for most of the dogs 11 yr life and you could never let her off leash or count on her being well behaved. This may have only been on dog but it has put me off of owning a JRT.

Roly is definatly an exeption. As is Holly.

I do like jrt's in general, all the ones I've met have been great. Just way too much energy for me. I'm a lazy person

I apologize, should have thought a little more before I started this thread.

    Cheers, Disney.
I don't think you had any need to apologise to be honest. The greater majority of us are adults and perhaps we all need to remeber that at times like this.

For those who find that half of their breed name they have typed blanks out with asterisks, I'll give you a free tip... it is because you are misspelling it. The breed name is S H I H T Z U ...there are 2 h's. and it is actually pronounced Sheee t zu.
