    Default What Do You Do...

With your dog's things once they've passed?

I have Sasha's old collar in the cupboard somewhere and we buried him with his wicker bed.

His ID tag is on my key ring. (no address on it so it's safe!) I think it's nice that I carry him with me wherever I go.

Because I mainly have the same breed, sizes etc I have a tendency to interchange their collars etc.

But for a while there when I only had two dogs and it went to one I did the same as you and put their things away for a while.

I've just realised that I have some leads that are 20 years old. Better change them.

I haven't had to deal with a dog's passing yet and I can't even begin to imagine what I would do. I don't think it's one of those things I can comprehend properly until it happens.

I buried Zeppelin's lead, collar & he's fav chew stick & he's fav jogger shoe of mine with him.

I kept he's id tags & have then in 1 of my display cabinets along with he's pic & sympathy cards & memento gifts that friends & family gave me when he died

I just couldn't bear to keep & share Zep's collars & leads with any other future dog that i may have as they were Zep's only.

Both Amos and Chloe were buried with their favourite blankets and toys. I still have i.d tags somewhere too. They're second blankets I still have too, when they first passed I would often snuggle into them

I haven't lost a dog but with my old cat, we buried him in his collar. His bowls etc were being used by the younger kitten (we had the kitten before he died) and like most cats he didn't have a bed as such, just slept where he liked.

I do reuse collars they grew out of, bowls, leads and Jodi is getting great enjoyment of a few of Shad's puppy toys (he died age 14) I have always kept the last collar though, of any dog's in a drawer, silly but sentimental and it suits me.

We leave collars on display with their ashes in special doggy urns
