Default Your Right to Choose Vs Breed Standard

I've seen this brought up in a number of threads and I wanted to view peoples opinions on it.

When referring specifically to designer dogs, do you believe it is a person's right to choose if they want a designer crossbreed or do you believe purebred dogs who are up to the breed standard should be bred and kept as pets?

Of course people have a RIGHT to choose whatever dog they want. If they're available for purchase and that's what someone wants then it's their choice if they buy it. It's not illegal so of course they have a RIGHT.

Technically speaking, but I think you understood what my original meaning was.

My personal view is that Designer Dogs should not be available to buy. It is (in my mind) a horrid, horrid fallacy that they are able to market DD's as shamelessly as they did.

Now, if it's an accidental mating, I don't have an issue with it, but when people have sat down and planned to cross two breeds (or more) and purposely put the dog and bitch together to create puppies because they're small, cute and marketable/saleable, I believe that it is wrong.

I also believe that people should look at shelter/rescue dogs before buying from a petshop/byb. Again, this is my view.

Like I said, I did not mean in a legal sense. I was wondering what everyone's personal feelings on the issue were.

Do you mean bred by registered breeders or BYB's?
