    Hi Mal

No your post is great I hadn't gotten to that one yet and I was trying to personalise all my responses to each person. Takes a while though.

    Hope things go well, Huskymum.
Remember that a week is not a great length of time, and whatever you choose to do, it must be done with 100% consistency.

I also agree with Mal re the 'hanging up.' Sometimes IMO it just has to be done. I hope it doesn't have to come to that for you and your Malinois, but if so, then take his advice and do it.

or is she coming to you and you ask her to sit and you pat her?

If it was me I'd immediately break the pattern you are using. Say, call her to come, put her in a drop (did I read this right she does drop on command), stay upright yourself. Reward with chicken. Leave her in drop. Remove bowl.

but I would start off with the dropping yummy food method in first then progress to this.

Gypsy automatically came and sat. This is new to her as she has never done that before.

Usually when we go out side we ignore her for a few minutes before we pay any attention to her or Diesel. While we a busy ignoring her she will come and sit at my feet and wait patiently untill I am ready to pat her.

But this thing with her food is all new. Usually when she would finish she would wander over to Diesel and sniff his dinner and then I would have to call her over and make her sit.

I don't know If I would have the strength to do that. I have heard of that being done. And I am def taking Mal's advise as well. Mals are pretty quick in the learning part so I think a week should show some kind of change I know that time frame won't "cure" her issue and it has to be reinforced all the time with consistency.

I know this is entirely controversial but what about an electric collar? I don't want to get in a big heated debate about it but if used properly they can be effective. There are pros and cons for everything.

I don't think an electric collar is necessary for this issue. I don't see it as a huge problem - at this stage. Lol. Fmaous last words.
This is more a physchological, social heriachy, adolescent behaviour in my opinion.
PM Mal and he will be able to explain how to use the dog's OWN body weight to hang her, instead of relying on your own strength and body force. Kind of like martial arts, which I'm not about to get into here.

I too think this is a social heriachy thing. I think she is at the age where she is testing me.

You know from long ago my thoughts on this Master/Leadership thing. She MUST be put into and understand and accept her rightful position. If not, I hate to imagine what could be the outcome in future years. But I know you know that.

I wonder, have you bitten her back? Probably not, I'd think. Most ppl aren't as strange as I am. I was gonna add more, but thought better of it. Lol.

I know what the Mal was bread for and are currently used for today (which is why we got her) so I def know the potential she has. All the more reason to nip it in the butt NOW!! Before it gets out of control.

I haven't bitten ber back. But trust me I thought about it! If I didn't think she would snap back at me!

If you think that then yes, there is a huge problem here. I would be discussing this with Mal as soon as he gets back online, actually.

If you ever feel the need or are in any desperate situation, bite her on her ear, very hard, and do not be pissy about it. See what Mal thinks of that one? He'll either ask me WTF? or go 'um yeah, true.'

I would be interested in that one as well.

I don't know for sure if she would snap but I don't want to get in the position to find out.
