    Default Honuring Our Fallen Breatheran?

I'm going to be adopting a Pei of Shar Pei Rescue Victoria next year or the year after. I feel like this is insulting to my darling Terry. For those who have loved and lost, then had the strength to open their heart to a new pet...How'd you do it?

I don't think it's insulting to our past dogs. I'm pretty sure that Terry would not have wanted you to be lonely.

All of my dogs have been rescue dogs, and when I've had to say goodbye I never think in terms of 'replacing' them, as none of them could ever be replaced. Each and every one has a special spot in my heart, and I know that there are many spots that are yet to be filled. I also like to think that my dogs that have passed on would approve of me taking in another lost soul, just as they were once lost souls. I hope that if they could talk they would say to me "I have had a wonderful home with you, now go and share that home with another dog in need".

At least that's how I try to look at it.

That is a WONDERFUL way to put it!

I think tomorrow I'll go to his grave and have a good chat with him.

When Kosmo and Keesie died, we were left with a big hole in our lives.. Both were cremated and each had their ashes placed in large Japanese Lanterns.. We felt that we needed to bring a new bundle of joy into our home to help us deal with Kase and Mo's passing. Kase and Mo are always with us watching from their lanterns and they are always in our hearts and watching out for Kuro and Kirri..

Mitte, that was just beautiful. May I ask where you keep the urns?

I felt the same when we lost Beau.
It hurt so much losing him and no dog would possibly even come close to filling the hole he left.. but then there was Kimba...
Its hard to explain but I adore this dog but still miss and love Beau (and Missy) all the same. I think making the change from Male to Female was easier but still she will never fill Beaus place in our hearts but has already claimed a fairly decent sized piece of her own! lol

I have this fear Sharoo, that if I love another dog...That love will seep into the part of my heart that I've saved for Terry and steal his love.

They are sitting on top of my large speakers (which each weigh a ton) either side of the entertainment unit..

You cant replace the love a dog has given you, even by another dog.
To this day I can speak of Beau and Missy just as if they were still here.
I remember the love each of them gave me in their own Special way.

I remember Missy licking my hand when I was in the bath, curling up in my lap whenever I sat down, the look she gave me at about 10am each day so I would lift her to the top of the couch (sun hit it there) I remember her shivering everytime you looked at her just so you would wrap her up, when she would sit at your feet for a neck rub and start barking if you stopped..lol .. all this is still here and shes been gone a few years now..

    Beaus memories are even fresher..

Kimba cannot replace either of them. She makes me happy every single day in her own way.
