Thanks Peter. I have halted any further bidding on kennels on eBay until I look into this a bit further. Cheers.

Ziggy is an indoor dog and has no kennel. The dogs I grew up with were also all indoor dogs but we had a kennel in the garden (only because I won it in a tombola). Anyways, one of our dogs used it every time we had puppies... She used to jump up on it with a toy in her mouth teasing the little ones who couldn't follow She loved it!!!

Lol. So she never actually USED it to sleep in at night?

I feel like I'm getting my answer here about kennels.

That is hilarious picturing your female teasing the puppies!!!

Nope, she never slept in it. I think only my brother and I used to go inside. Maybe it will help with your boys??!!

I bought a kennel for MIllie and she would never use, but I wanted her to. So I started by taking away any other comfortable surface to sleep on for a couple of days, then I climbed into in and called her for about 5 mins a day every couple of hours, gradually upping the amount of time I spent in there. Then I threw her teddy in there and left her to it. About 2 weeks later she was using and (still is) her kennel.

I think it depends on the dog, are you able to borrow one for a couple of weeks to see if you can Inca used to it and see what she thinks? If you throw a blanket in there with Mum and siblings smell on it she might be more inclined to use it.

My dogs love their kennel - it's HUGE! Has 3 bedrooms, a lounge with 5 sofas to choose from, they don't tend to use the bathroom or kitchen (that's for the kennel hand to use).

Ohhh, you mean the other type of kennels - I had quite a few at one point, only the spiders used them.....

Can i ask the question of those with dogs that dont sleep in or wont use a kennel whether thier kennel has been the traditional shape, being enclosed with an entrance.

My two both sleep indoors but they're out during the day and use they're kennel alot.
When Madeline was still young I got her a small plastic kennel. Then when I got Griffen I got a larger traditional wooden kennel.

Maddy still used the small plastic one untill it fell apart (I have no idea how she got in it, she could only fit half way but still managed to turn around so her bum was in it and her head hung out)
Both dogs used to curl up together in the wooden one but as Griffen got bigger they pushed the back out.
I've gotten them a new bigger one but it's too big to get in the back yard hehe
