    Question New and Need Help

Hi all. Im new to the forum, just joined up to get some advice.

My mum has a dog... Pitbull? Im pretty sure. For us, she is very good dog. Loves attentions. However, my mum doesnt give her any excpet to go out and feed her. She never gets walked and is very over weight (has lost abit of weight in the past few months though so not as bad as she was), he doesnt have any toys to play with but chews whatever is in the back yard. She digs holes, there is poo everywhere because my mum doesnt pick it up. She isnt child friendly at all. She barks at the slightest noise, even at the neighbours being in their own backyard
I feel sorry for her. However Im not going to take on the responsiblity with one toddler and a bubs on its way in January, I would need a child friendly dog if I ever wanted one.

We are in Perth (SOR) and was wondering if I could call someone to come and see what can be done for her. My mum wouldnt willingly give her up.

So obviously you can see that your mum is not treating this dog in the right way. So why can't you talk to your mum and get some sense into her? or have you tried that, to no avail.

If your mum is not willing to surrender the dog, you have several choices:

    1) You take the dog and organise for it to be rehomed with a loving, caring and responsible owner.
    2) You take the dog to an animal shelter/rspca with the hope that someone will choose her and she won't end up being PTS.
    3) You phone the rspca and make a complaint against your mother.
    4) You educate your mother on how to look after a dog!!!

Why on earth does your mother have the dog if she doesn't want to do anything with the poor thing?

Dogs need more than food, water and shelter - they need exercise, mental stimulation, and love.

You need to talk to your mother, if she won't rehome the dog then she needs to give the dog some exercise, some attention and clean up the yard!

I can understand that you personally cannot take the dog, but could you take it for a walk occasionally (let mum babysit), or at least go and buy it some toys to play with. The dog is bored, and I'm not surprised.

Oops, just saw you're expecting in January, so maybe you walking the dog might not be a good idea, perhaps someone else in the family could do this.

Please try and talk some sense into your mother!

*sigh* No Im not a troll

Honestly, Im too scared to even try to talk sense into her... Im worried that if I do and she doesnt do anything then I go and do the right thing by getting the dog some help, then she will go mental at me for wanting to do the right thing.

The dog orriganlly was my sisters boyfriends (now ex for a few years) But for one reason or the other my mum ended up with her. I think once she paid a massive vet bill, mum claimed her.

I really do want to try to talk to her though.... Thanks for the ideas I will have a think and if I have any more questions I will ask!!

Yeah, did occur to me, as I felt a bit...funny...that this might be our little blue reincarnated.

But I don't know that, so have to give this poster the benefit of the doubt, Cleas.

Of most concern here I think is the fact the dog apparently changes sex half way through!!

I'm sorry Mumma, it sounds like your mother doesn't communicate with you all that well.

But do try to talk to her and get it to sink in. As you yourself know, this dog needs and deserves so much more...
