    Default Hello Again!

i was here a while ago now, with a rescued greyhound cross.. but we had to admit to failure with her, and the rescue group found her a new home with a larger house and yard, and a rottweiler to play with..

last night my husband came home with Nelson. (pics are in my album) he had been hiding away in the warehouse at my husband's place of work for maybe 3 days they think.. once they found him tho, my husband had to bring him home. he was in a very bad state, his hair was matted in large clumps, with all sorts of stuff stuck in it, filthy, smelly and starving.. starving was easy to fix, but we had all sorts of trouble finding someone who would clip all that filthy matted hair away, but finally someone cared enough, and not only clipped it all off for him, but bathed him for us as well, and dried him too! yes, we are changing vets.

we don't know what he is, looks like a silky crossed with something else perhaps? vet said not an old dog, not a puppy, but that was the best she could say. no chip. he is well behaved tho, a little confused, but he should settle in time.

glad to be back.. i remember some very nice ppl here before..

has anyone else ever seen a dog literally falling asleep standing up? his eyes close, his head drops, he sways....... then he wakes up again.. he sometimes paws the carpet, or the bed we have for him, does a little turn around, looks like he will curl up, then stands up again. poor baby just doesn't feel safe enough yet? would that be it? i have sat on the floor with him, and stroked him till he relaxes, but still he won't let himself sleep.. he rarely sits down, only does for a short while, he stands. he stands next to my chair, or next to my husband, and starts to fall asleep again..

hopefully he allows himself to sleep at night.

If only they could talk and tell us what has happened. I think they remember the really bad things. Geisha was a rescue -- she hates anyone wearing a baseball cap especially teenage boys, it was one that kicked the hell out of her, and she still knows him. He walked passed our house one day and Geisha went nuts, I thought she was going to jump clean through the window to get him. He also used to chase her with a hose, now she is terrified of baths and has been since we have had her, which is over 4 years now. So any animal that has been abused is just so dam sad & I'd like 5 minutes with the abuser to see if they like it. <---- and it would not be just verbal.
