Why don't you wait until your life is really settled before deciding on any dog. It would be a shame to have to rehome another dog because of further changes in your life. A dog is a life time commitment and needs stability just as children do.

If you need a doggy fix why not volunteer at Yaps. They are desperate for dog walkers and foster carers at present. I realise foster caring is out of the question in your current situation but dog walking or just giving a bit of extra TLC to the shy ones is a very worthwhile way of spending your time.

The perfect dog, your canine soulmate, is out there waiting for you. You may not meet him/her for a few more years but believe me he's out there.

    Be patient and good luck.

    Thanks DH

I'm not actually looking at getting a dog this very minute because, like you said, I don't want to have to rehome ANY pet again. I'm only looking into everything now so that I am chocablock full of info about everything possible so that my new dog (whatever it may be) will be with me for the rest of it's life.

I would have loved to have kept the dogs I surrendered. I got so many comments about Keira's eyes. I am so unbelievably jealous that someone else is looking after MY dogs. I know I made the decision to surrender them, but if I had enough time I would have convinced my boyfriend to lets all move back to Sydney where I was already living on my own with them (my grandpa's old house)

    I forgot to add...

I was thinking about volunteering at YAPS, but with no money coming in, and the little we have going out, it would cost more then we have on petrol lol. Otherwise, yes, I would have LOVED to do that!

I'm getting my doggy and fishy (I'm a fish nerd) fixes by going on these forums, but my boyfriend thinks it's only making me more upset about the dogs I surrendered and the fact that we might not get Ferrero for a long time.

I think I'm THAT stubborn of a person that I would rather go without if I can't get what I want at the time. I can't help it, but I would always see which ever dog I decided to get as a "crappy second prize". Wait, that was harsh...Of course I would love the dog I got, but I would always feel like "something is missing". I KNOW that I will have my Ferrero one day. I just hope it's sooner rather then later...

Then you know yourself very well, some of us don't get to that stage for many more years. I think I was about 35, lol.

    Ferrero

You could ask YAPS about transport options. There might be another volunteer that lives near you that could give you a lift. Or they might be able to sponsor you a bus ticket or something. Don't know unless you ask.

    That's a good idea Hyacinth!

I'll find out if they have any other volunteers or workers out this way that I can share a ride with

If we moved to Kewarra Beach like originally planned, then it wouldn't be a problem as it was only a short bus trip away, but we are in the back of Bentley Park at the moment....yuck!

I have some (hopefully) good news...

I have found a breeder that is expecting a litter on 28/12/09. The father is a brown and the mother is a black. The same brown male will be the father of another litter to a black female in feb.

I'm so excited, but the breeder is unsure of where I'm at on the waiting list. Also, the chances of having a brown male in either litter isn't very high.

I sooo hope this is it for me, but if there are no brown males, or some other silly (sorry I had to say it) family is before me on the list and take my boy, it wasn't meant to be.

Please send out good vibes for me and my (fingers crossed) boy.

I didn't think you could afford a dog right now or do I have it mixed up with some other thread?

No, it's me your thinking of.

Things are starting to look up for us now, my partner found a job and I will have one too after xmas by the looks of things. We are slowly getting back on track.

I'm trying not to worry about the money side of things right now, and yes I know it is an important factor, but if it's meant to be, my boy will be in either litter and we will have the money for him.
