what the others said about training sessions is good. You could mix in regular precision obedience (heel, sit, stay, recall) with teaching tricks using the clicker. Lots of ideas on the web but the fastest tricks come from what the dog will offer up on it's own. Now if only I could get Frosty to do commando crawl on her own and not when she's trying to sneak somewhere with the lead on.

Also tug of war and wrestling are good in a smaller space where running is hard. I imagine with kennel cough, the exercise needs to be a little bit often, rather than a lot all at once.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. It's now been about 11 days since the coughing started, 7 days since the vet diagnosed kennel cough. I've only heard him cough once in the last day, but don't know when it's safe for him to go out in public again. I've looked it upon the net but everyone's opinion seems to be different... I was thinking a couple more days or until the cough completely disappears?

Definitely wait until the cough stops - I think the coughing is what spreads the germs. But it should be about two weeks all up from diagnosis to good to go.
