I don't know your circumstances, but I am yet to come across an acceptable mistake litter.

    My thoughts-

*the pups are from puppy farms/BYBs (if including BYBs you will need to keep it simple by saying they breed for money and don't have the dog's best interests in mind ie. health)

*you don't know what you're really getting ie parentage, health problems

*reputable registered breeders - you know what you are getting, they health & temperament test

*shelter dogs - there are so many who need loving homes

    Cleas,

I will be talking to ALL the local vets getting their opinions re de-sexing of a NEWFOUNDLAND. Many breeders request that de-sexing is not done prior to a certain age because of their growth rate, and unfortunately I have so far had two vets tell me the same thing.

Does that make me irresponsible? I think not.

I also agree Cleas, a dog can turn into houdini when it smells a bitch in heat. So can relate to what you are saying about Ruby. Going to soccer??? What was he thinking??? LOL.

Two Cleas. TWO!!! 24 ruddy months old. I have even come across one breeder who asks potential buyers to sign a contract stating they will not de-sex before that on veterianarian advice.

    Oh dear.

I will certainly be discussing this at length with all the vets, not just the two I've already spoken to. Best to have all the facts, but yes, i do believe at this stage they are correct.

Hmmm, wonder what Newfie discovered? Will have to ask her.

as I said Aussie I was purely using you as an example and it makes me feel better that the definition you stated was from the internet! Phew!

I am not going to put you down for your opinion on BYB I am purely stating that until other know my circumstances not to judge me.

There are not many "acceptable mistake litters" out there, I am not saying that I am an acception.........you can form your own opinion
