    [QUOTE=Aussie Floyd;31571]FOR EVERYONE WHO'S LOST A FRIEND

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
    "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me......

Oh, this is so beautiful, it made me cry! I didn't know I was such a sook. my 15yo border passed away last year, and this reminded me so much of him.
    Thanks Aussie

    To My Staffordshire Mate “Zeppelin”

    I WONT FORGET....

I won’t forget how I had wanted a pet for a while, and there you were with your big smile.
I won’t forget the day we met, would become my no:1 pet.
I won’t forget the day you came into my life, Peter knew he had lost part of his wife.
I won’t forget my tears of joy, now that I have a special Staffordshire Boy.
I won’t forget how well behaved you are, even when you are near or far.
I won’t forget my big smile, because I was sitting there with you a while.
I won’t forget our 1st walk, and your special style of talk.
I won’t forget how you rolled in the grass, and how I watched through the window glass.
I won’t forget our plays with sticks, or you chewing on bricks.
I won’t forget the smile you put on the kids faces, when they came home from other places.
I won’t forget how much you loved being in the car, even when we didn’t drive far.
I won’t forget how friendly you would greet, all the people you would meet.
I won’t forget when we drove Jazz & Lily to school, all the other kids thought you were so cool.
I won’t forget how you hated the swimming pool, even though it would have kept you cool.
I won’t forget how others wanted to steal you for their own,
I would reply “over my dead body” Zeppelin’s already got a loving home.
I won’t forget how you loved the hose, or even your proud Staffordshire pose.
I won’t forget when you ran your older body wiggled, we all just giggled.
I won’t forget your loving cuddles, or you lying in the puddles.
I won’t forget your snoring, on the rainy days when it was boring.
I won’t forget your happy plays, on warm sunny days.
I won’t forget in your bed was my shoe, I guess you wanted me to be near you.
I won’t forget how scared you were of thunder, or the table you hid under.
I won’t forget how you loved the shower, and how you would shake of the water with all your power.
I won’t forget your strength and stubbornness, or when you were sick or in distress.
I won’t forget your love for us, to you it wasn’t any fuss.
I won’t forget the Vets sad news you were very sick, I am glad you’re no longer in pain, you went so quick.
I won’t forget on my lap I felt your last heart beat, but I know some time again we will meet.
I won’t forget the day you died, and how long I cried.
I won’t forget my prayers to God, for my much loved Dog.
I won’t forget the day the big boy’s came around, to help put your body in the ground.
I won’t forget the big boy’s tears, or all of our happy years.
I won’t forget other people’s sympathy, now you’re not with me.
I won’t forget to keep you in my heart, that way we are never apart.
I won’t forget you “Zeppelin” my Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or how you made me merrier.
I won’t forget how much i love you, or how much you loved me too.

    Neglected Dog

I wish someone would tell me what it is I have done wrong,
And why I must be chained outside and left alone so long.
They seemed so glad to have me when I came here as a pup,
There wer so many things we'd do while I was growing up.
The Master said he'd train me as a companion and his friend,
The Mistress said she'd never fear to be alone again.
The children said they'd feed me and brush me every day,
They'd play with me and walk me if I would only stay!
But now the Master hasn't time and the Mistress says I shed,
She won't allow me in the house not even to be fed.
The children never walk me and always say 'not now!'
I do wish I could please them so can someone tell me how?
All I had to give was love so I wish someone would explain,
Just why they said they wanted mine and then left it on a chain.

My Favourite - The Secret (In memory of Kelsey GSD)

We have a secret, you and I, that no-one else shall know,
For who but I can see you lie, each night, in fireglow?
And who but I can reach my hand before we go to bed,
And feel the living warmth of you, and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths, and see ahead of me,
Your strong body racing with the wind, so young again and free.
And only I can see you swim in every brook I pass,
And when I call you no-one but I can see the bending grass.

This one is sad but true. I'm sure many of us can relate.

    Heaven's Doggy Door

My best friend closed his eyes last night,
As his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.

The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger, puppy years,
    And OH...his many charms.

Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense 'I love you gaze'
Only a heart that's filled with tears
    Remembering our joy filled days.

But an Angel just appeared to me,
And said, 'You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
    He's installed a 'doggy-door' !

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
    Take naps.
    Stretch before rising.
    Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
    Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
The best things in life, aren't things
