Default River Seems Ok, Oh God, Have Lost 2 Pups.

The pups were last checked at 3 30 when my husband went out, he yelled they all seemed fine.
I went out and fed the cats at 6.30 and went to check them. Two were dead and the other 4 very flat. Pretty was last observed feeding them this morning. Any time I have gone out there she has been out of the pen. She may have slept on them, I just do not know.

The weather has been hot but i also put hand in the box and it did not seem unreasonable in there at all. Many litters are bred on farms out here successfully at this time of year.

The remaining four were rushed back inside. They were too weak to suckle. I gave no thought then to the bottle I have but grabbed a syringe from my bird first aid kit. I got some water into them, they kind of lapped at it. I used a damp towel to wipe them down in case of over heating. I then, when they started movement tried again to put them to Pretty. They tried and gave up.

I then made up the formula I had that I have been feeding Pretty each day.
The pups (one is still sluggish) were then able to suck and seem to be ok.

Hubby is at a meeting and I rang him. Told him he will be back in the spare room and why. Wow, he is honestly upset about this too. I said to him that this lessens the amount we have to give away, doesn't it ( I wasn't very nice) He said that that wasn't the point though and did I want him home to help.

    I can now start shaking.

That post was a bit incoherent.
I meant I fed them each a small amount of formula then put them to Pretty again and they were suckling.

Oh Christ Di Dee, I'm sorry!

How are the pups now? Check their skin fold over the neck? Are they dehydrated and to what degree?
Are they seeming better or are they 'fading'?

First thing I did was check skin fold when still in the box, it went down well on them all.
River is my smallest and also the one I have most affinity with due to him being spoken for so he was the first treated. I am in the bedroom with them. Thank goodness for wireless. They seem to be sleeping and Pretty is not as engorged as she was this afternoon.

    Oh no!

Do you know how Pretty is? Is there something wrong that could cause her to stop her from looking after the pups? I know that when one of our jacks had a litter quite a while ago, one of the puppies had died inside her and she couldn't get it out. We weren't able to pick up on it early enough (everything seemed just fine) until a couple of days later where she went downhill very very quickly (we noticed something was very wrong when she started to ignore the puppies, even laying on them). She had to be put down due to internal organ failure.

    Let's hope everything's okay!

    Excellent. Mouths open or closed?

    Any ideas what has happened?
