OMG Di, I'm so sorry Pretty has lost a cple of beautiful little pups. You need to give yourself a pat on the back for doing well rescuing the 4 remaining little ones

I was a little bit worried this afternoon. While Pretty did not eat, she was in with the pups all morning, but seemed very down this afternoon. Grief maybe? Maybe she has been taking the afternoons off from feeding the pups? Thankfully she ate at about 6pm, fed the pups and is now outside chomping a bone instead of stashing it.
If the not eating had continued into tomorrow I would have rung the vet. I do know dogs fast at times, maybe she is also like me and eats less when it is hot.
We have the aircon on up one end of the house but not the other (our bedroom) where the pups are, it is pretty warm down there so a fan is on to move the air. I can turn the aircon on in there to cool it if I wish but I do not feel it is bad. Wow, even me who usually sleeps with my frozen face covered by a doona in summer with it on, had a nana nap this arvo with just the fan on. It is not directly blowing on the pups.

Pretty really needs to be eating well Di Dee, for her to keep at her peak with those hungry little darlings taking it all out of her.
Any sign of her going off her food to a further or more regular degree, yes Di Dee, I would be calling your usual vet to have at least a chat with him.

    Keep up the great work.

She, before this was on 4 meals a day. Tonight I tempted her with (OUR!) chicken breast and some beef. She ate it about an hour later and as I said then had a bone. The rest of the chicken breast will be her supper, this time mixed with the usual stuff. She has the dry on offer 24/7 and I watched through a window when she was outside and she did not unearth any of her stashes.
    I certainly feel better now.

I forgot to have lunch I just realised, so it must run in the family, lmao.

I really think that she does a mid day feed then takes the rest of the day off till about 7.
Gees. I did give water at about 4pm to them, they then fed a couple of hrs later when she would go to them. and a couple are back feeding now. I am loathe to start sup feeding as otherwise she does well and they are roly poly and happy. Just a bit stressed mid arvo and settle after syringe.

    Hmmm, we watch and wait.

    Hi there Di
I'm sorry to hear about the other 2 'wubbles'. Very sad indeed.
Maybe calling a vet and having a chat would be a good idea.
Could the problem be that Pretty's too young, first pregnancy and all...just a thought. I know that birds aren't the greatest parents when they're young, especially 1st timers.
