Silver, I really think she just did not want to bother. Whenever I was out there she would stick her head in and toilet them.

She just seems to want to be inside with me though I only let her about twice during the day for about 10mts each time. From the moment I brought them is she has been happy suckling them, toileting, gazing at me and once outside to pee.

Di, Pretty is so young, and it is a falacy that every bitch has the perfect mothering instincts. That is just not true, like us humans really, I think.

Keep helping her to feed them! Praise her like mad each time she feeds them.
I am just so sorry about the other two.

Yes, pups seem ok and she is asleep in there with them. I also, before I posted her and after they had suckled her, brought the 2 dead ones into the box on the side so she could see them, she cleaned them and when she was outside for a pee I removed them. She looked in the box, looked in the carry basket I used and then settled with the others.

Oh God that is so sad - poor Pretty (and you). I hope all is clear sailing from here on, this is a stumble (horrible as it may be) but you now have to move forward, for your sake and for Pretty. Concentrate on the pups and have a nice strong drink, it is always sad to lose pups out of a litter that you have helped to raise but as I said previously this is not your fault. This is life and unfortunately sometimes it just plain sucks!

Oh Di I am so so very sorry
But you have done an absolutely amazing job,be very, very proud of yourself hun.
Talk about a baptism by fire !

I am so glad to hear my littleman is fighting back and the other three as well.
It sounds as though perhaps they did not cope so well with being out in the heat.I know lots of pups areborn that way but these started life off in airconditioned comfort, the sudden shift to heat was maybe too much for their little systems to adjust to.

Glad Pretty is ok as well, it also sounds like she is glad to be back inside along with her babies.

And so sorry for not answering hun!
Have been in bed since about 1 ish ,doing my damdest to stay out of hospital,I loath hospitals.
But when I went up to bed, hubby came up with me to keep an eye on me ( he stayedhome from work with me to watch me) and I forgot to disconnect from the net,I'm so sorry!!

Thanks chop. The pups were not in airconditioning, I do not have central air and spent the nights in my room with them before the box without even a fan on. I think yea, possibly heat but more so Pretty's neglect today. They all seem great now.

You should have heard me with River when he would not open his mouth for the syringe.
"you are gonna live if it KILLS me" I was really getting panniky a while but then he started after a few wet fingers in his mouth from a bowl and his face quickly dipped in to lick.
    God I was so scared.
