Thanks Liza, it must be weird seeing the one side on one forum, and the other side on the other!

    Hi AussieMyf7

I think she looks kelpie x BC. It is very kelpie red with BC coat length and white markings. I think she may also have a little bit of cattle dog across the sholders as she's a bit wider there than you might expect in a Kelpie or BC.

BC have several colour variations - but I don't think red and white is one of them.

But you know how things are on farms. There would be BC and Kelpie and ACD and etc all living together, and "accidents" or "experiments" will happen.

I just refer to them generally as "farm dogs".

"the other forum" - I thought it was Australian too. Talk about local names for things, don't get me started on fish or plants or snack food. Who knows what a "kitchener" bun is? Delicious but for Fridays only.

    Thanks
Did you look at any of those links? There were a few red and white BC's
She is also very bushy at the moment coming out of winter. Her coat goes a lot lighter and thinner and generally neater.

I guess it depends which breed standard you look at.

Americans would probably call a Kelpie a BC, since they allow short coat and pointy ears...

NSW / Australian - maybe not
    Border Collie Breed Standard

NSW standard has a coat that looks similar to the kelpie red - but they call it "chocolate". If I got chocolate that colour - I'd send it back. The colour they call "red" is more like labrador gold / sandy / apricot colour.

Well if she is a BC x Kelpie, she should be brilliant at agility...

    Well that she is!
    She loves it.
Im way to lazy to do anything useful with it.
She loves jumping the horse jumps and because of my nice new camera, I'll be able to get a photo or even better, a video

    Hi aussiemyf7

you're way too lazy - hmm, BC must be the dominant gene - there is no way a Kelpie would let you get away with that.

    Hahahahah!
She has calmed down a lot. Let me tell you, her first year with us as a one year old.
She would literally bounce and bounce and bounce. Not on you. Next to you. You'd be standing there talking to someone and she would be jumping up and down right there!
I always feel like she's never getting enough exercise, no matter how much she does. I think on somedays she would run till she died!

    "run until she died"

Our kelpie heeler cross nearly did that a couple of times. She'd run until she staggered and collapsed and we'd have to hose her down to cool her off. Very scary. I think that's a kelpie thing. Heelers are more lazy most of the time, and quite happy to quit of their own accord when they need to.

Kelpie Heeler x also used to give kisses. When you were standing up. She knew she wasn't allowed to jump on you uninvited. So she'd jump up in front of you to face to face height and get you with a telescopic tongue. I miss that dog.
