Lady looks very similar to a BC x Kelpie I got when I was 14. Sheena's parents were working dogs. One was a long coated BC and the other a red Kelpie. Half the litter had long coats, the rest short. Pups were red and white and black and white, all with more or less collie markings.

It's interesting how breed names and types differ from country to country.

I looked after a dog in boarding who was bought out from Scotland when her owner's migrated to Australia. They had purchased her from the SPCA in Scotland as a purebred shorthaired Border Collie. She was blue merle and looked just like a Coolie. I couldn't see any BC in her at all.

Thanks DH, I'll settle for Kelpie X BC. Although the first 6 years of her life she was purebred Kelpie, so the next 10 years she'll be purebred Kelpie

I dont want to settle for purebred Border Collie though..

Does it really matter, Myf what her correct classification is?
I do though know it can be hard to get your head around things we thought were true. I was told a bird of mine was male when I got him, nope, behaviour states otherwise. I thought he was male for a long time.

She's always looked like at least a Kelpie mix to me, but I'm no Kelpie expert. I do love the breed though, they're such great dogs!
