If these people want un-desexed pups, then they should look at properly bred dogs.

EXCEPT! Yes, you let a dog grow up too about 5-6 months old before getting spayed or snipped. Is it possible you could advise their new owners to get them de-sexed and explain why?
Problem is that people are liars. People have done before and will again, lie to get what they want

this dog is for my daughter who is disabled
this dog is for my mother
    Ive always had this breed
I want a dog as a companion to live inside with me
    I will get it desexed

    etc, etc

People who buy dogs are the worst. So easy to bring the kids along and have them as lovely pawns to prove what a good person you are.

Most pet shops sell their dogs un-desexed which is absolutely terrible.
Im sorry Di(and the rest who disagree with Occy) but I don't see how this is any different..

My vet will not desex them that young, I had this conversation with him when she went for the ultrasound.. End of story, as I am not going vet shopping hours away just to satisfy a couple of forum members and to my mind put the pups in danger at a very young age. I trust this vet and his advice. Others that feel differently..swell...I though, will go by his training and many years of practice. To me it is like DR shopping, do it enough and yes, you will eventually get one to prescribe or do a procedure you want, even though many others may be against it.

I came with this thread for a delema I had, and the answers helped me resolve it, so thank you for the input on my original question.

I just realised I had not replied to you Hyacinth, I thought I had. I very much like the idea of incorporating $50 into the price and use it for an incentive to desex, payable to the vet in question when I ascertain that the dog/bitch indeed has been done. Incorporate the price for spaying Pretty as well? No. When she is mine that will be my responsibility. I will be donating any profits to a place I know of. I am very pleased to incorporate both suggestions and it also satisfies me not to breed them for profit.

Firstly, you're doing a great job with the pups. I'm amazed at how confident you seem with the situation and you're always one step ahead. I'd have no idea where to start or where to turn next.

In re. to desexing. I'm not a fan of early desexing either but in your case I would have the pups desexed. I know that in country SA alot of the working dogs are not desexed, they have pups all the time. Pups are given away for free and those pups have pups etc, etc. Those that can't be homed usually get shot or get dumped ,like my Lola.
Didn't your hubby or his father consider shooting these pups? Well, I'd hate to see the above happen to your current pups litters.
I would have them desexed and charge that amount for each pup.

Put it this way - I would never go to a breeder who wanted to sell me a dog straight away. I bring references and knowledge. Were I to go to a different breed I would make sure I got to know people in the breed before I purchased it.

You're supposed to go to a registered breeder or a rescue shelter/group - that's how you're supposed to get dogs.

I'm not suggesting that you shouldnt pay lol. Did you walk in and tell them how lovely you were and play with the dogs and then choose one and leave with it?
