ChoppaChop, there are better ways of avoiding an accident. Jodz could have simply walked off or walked up to the parents. Suppose it was not a child that approached but an aggressive dog? What would have happened then? It is ridiculous to go on about this parent and assuming it is a bad parent drinking beer or boozing or whatever else you call it when it was a recreational event where families were there to enjoy themselves. The language that Jodz used to recount her clash with the parents was rude and inflamatory. Unfortunately, I see her sitting on the sides alone in future events such as this whether with Chole or not! Had I witnessed her outburst, I would not want to be near her!

    *sigh*

    I give up.
Fact is it wasn't an aggressive dog , if it was then Jodz would of no doubt handled the situation differently.
Fact is it was a 2/3 year old child that shouldn't of been wandering around a sports field on its own tp begin with .We did not say the parents were boozing etc...but they certainly need some parenting classes in responsibility.

You say what if it was an aggressive dog ?
Well then I say what if it was a disgusting person who preyed on small children ?

The parents would never know what happened.

And to add to that once again.... A 9 year old child was taken from his front yard only last week (In Perth) and had a knife held to his throat in bushes, he managed to get away, this man is STILL out roaming. Doubtful a 2-3 year old would have any hope getting away... Very lucky parents.

Choppa, you are determined to make it right! Jodz was not a responsible dog owner if she was ON THE PHONE AND DIDN'T SEE THE CHILD APPROACH!
And it is not bad parenting to let your child wander a few paces away. IT IS NOT A DOG! Perhaps the parents of that child should have been told that good parenting means putting your child on a leash...

Ok I havent read the whole thread. But from Mimi's post, your saying Jodz should have a constant eye on her dog? If Jodz has left the crowd to be by herself and some kid has wandered over to THEM, has been told to go away and then comes back, this is NOT Jodz fault.

I was the one who brought up the 'boozing' as they were... When I sent the boy back in the general direction of the parents (not being able to tell who his parents were and not willing to leave my own child unattended) she came over with a can of Jim beam in her hand asking what it was all about...

Enjoy yourself at the park all you like, after all it's what parks, but take some level of responsibility for your kids.. thats all im asking

    *shakes head*

Mimi not determined to make it right at all , I don't need to , its just common sense and responsible dog ownership.

Tell me then , why is it upto me ,a dog owner out with my dog, enjoying some time to ourselves,destressing...why is it upto me to do a parents job ?

Kikki that is my absolute worst nightmare

Choppa. The dog is secondary to all of this. It should not have been there, full stop! A dog that Jodz is not sure about, just acquired, worried about her reaction to new places and people.. WHY ON EARTH do you take it out in a place where there are lots of people, children, cricket balls flying around, noise, clapping, laughing, yelling, etc..???? Talk about responsibility!!! Is this responsible?? I don't think so!

Oh god.. Mimi you've now completely changed you're point of view..

First off I should be allowing chloe to learn to socialise and not be so over protective.. Now she shouldn't have been there at all...

Jodz was not a responsible dog owner if she was ON THE PHONE AND DIDN'T SEE THE CHILD APPROACH!
WHAT???????????? A parent boozing up, compared to myself who has already removed herself away from this boy ONCE and answering a phone call, watching my own child, AND IM THE IRRESPONSIBLE ONE??

I'll take back what i said.. you Defiantly are only wanting a fight.. Take it elsewhere Mimi, you can't even keep your original point of view...

I was stupid enough to bite back.... Wont happen again..
